Product details

Billets, blooms and slabs are semi-finished steel products cast by continuous casting. They differ in cross-section and in the products they are rolled into. Buyers specify the steel grade to a standard such as EN, ASTM or GOST, plus the size and length.

Billets have a small square or round cross-section. They are rolled into long products.

Rolled into: Rebar, wire rod, merchant bars and light sections.

Steel grade, chemistry, cross-section and length are confirmed in the offer.

Blooms have a larger square or rectangular cross-section than billets. They are rolled into heavier long products.

Rolled into: Beams, rails, heavy sections and seamless tube rounds.

Steel grade, chemistry, cross-section and length are confirmed in the offer.

Slabs are wide and flat, with a rectangular cross-section. They are rolled into flat products.

Rolled into: Hot-rolled coil, plate and strip.

Steel grade, chemistry, cross-section and length are confirmed in the offer.
