Product details
Direct reduced iron (DRI), also called sponge iron, is made by removing oxygen from iron ore pellets or lump with reducing gas or coal, without melting. The porous product is a clean source of iron units for steelmaking.
DRI can re-oxidize and heat up when wet, so it needs careful storage and shipping under the relevant cargo rules.
