Base oils are refined mineral oils used to blend finished lubricants. SN (solvent neutral) grades are API Group I base oils, named for their approximate viscosity. Bright stock is a heavy, high-viscosity base oil refined from residual stock.
SN150
A light Group I base oil, used in engine oils, hydraulic oils and other light lubricants.
SN500
A medium-heavy Group I base oil, used in engine oils, gear oils and industrial lubricants.
SN600
A heavier Group I base oil, used in heavy-duty engine oils, gear oils and greases.
Bright Stock
A high-viscosity residual base oil, used to raise viscosity in gear oils, heavy engine oils, greases and marine lubricants.
